We love design as a discipline that seeks to provide value to environment and people’s daily life. What we like the most is to create objects that solve someone’s need and, in addition, provide an extra value, an intangible that is to be identified with an object and its history.
Oitenta’s products seek to build authentic rapport with design lovers. They tell the story behind their creation and artisanal making, a story of the fusion of modern design and traditional craftsmanship. These are objects concerned with ethical consumerism, with the idea of owning fewer things, but more special ones; and engaging the customer in the creative process of their custom made objects, tailored to their needs and personal taste. From those ideals our motto was born: Objects are more than just things.
We use natural materials, and as far as possible, local. Shaped entirely by hand with a lot of love and care in our design studio – workshop.
We treat our objects with natural finishings such as oil, wax, water based paint and a very special ingredient called Nogalina, a homemade wood tint made from walnut shells, mixed with water in different proportions to achieve different tones.
We value the whole part of the process and the contact with the materials, which helps us to improve in each order and to be better at designing our objects that are also alive and evolving over time.
We do not seek unattainable perfection, our objects are imperfect as we are. We also try to contribute our bit in the matter of sustainability, recycling all our debris and using recycled and recicable materials in our shipments.
